Schools and colleges in many states have been closed due to Bharat Bandh. So far West Bengal, Karnataka and Odisha governments have announced shool holidays for Jan. 8 and 9. Check updates here.

Two-day nationwide general strike on January 8-9 has been called by ten major trade unions.

Bharat Bandh Live Updates: Central Trade Unions or CTUs have launched a two-day nationwide bandh in protest against the government's alleged anti-worker policies and unilateral labour reforms. As many as 10 CTUs with at least 20 crore workers affiliated to them have joined the strike.

Normal life is likely to be affected on Tuesday and Wednesday as workers of public transport corporations, autorickshaws and taxis will join two day nation-wide protest called by the trade unions against the Modi government.
